It is not surprising that both state post offices of different countries and private companies offer this service to their clients.

You just need to figure it out if you want a person living in another country to quickly and without delay get what he needs, and you won’t overpay.

The worst thing is for beginners who don’t really know what to do and where to go if there is a need to send a parcel to another country.

Useful tips for sending parcels abroad:

    Make sure that you are not going to send anything from the prohibited list abroad. Prohibited items include:

    As you can see, the list of prohibitions is not that long and quite justified. Everything else can be sent abroad, securely packaged.

    Choose how you will send your item.

    For example, if the weight and size of your package is small (up to 2 kg and no larger than A4 sheet size), then it can be sent as.

    This service is offered by both Russian/Ukrainian state post offices and private companies.

State Post will provide assistance in sending parcels abroad

Many people wonder whether it is possible to send a parcel abroad via Russian Post or Ukrposhta (it all depends on the country of residence) or whether only private companies are available to citizens.

Not only that.

Both Russian Post and Ukrposhta today provide a service for sending goods abroad.

The main thing is to familiarize yourself with the algorithm of actions and rules so that there are no problems already at the sending stage.

1) How to send a parcel abroad via Russian Post?

In principle, goods of any weight and size can be sent abroad, but if we're talking about about, then the Russian Post will not help you in this case, since among its rules there are specific requirements for the maximum weight and dimensions of the parcel:

It is advisable to come to the post office with the goods already packaged, so as not to waste time on the spot and not to delay either yourself or others standing in line.

If you want to properly pack your parcel to send it abroad, follow these rules:

  1. If we are talking about a small parcel (up to 3 kg) that does not contain fragile items, then a plastic or paper bag is suitable for packaging. You can even get by with plain paper.
  2. If we are talking about heavier messages (from 3 kg and more), then a box is already needed (its maximum size is 42.5 x 26.5 x 38 cm) or a fabric bag so that the packaging does not tear when the parcel is transported.
  3. Use only new packaging materials (no traces of tape or old addresses).
  4. Packaging must comply with the following rules:
    • be strong and undamaged;
    • have a place to write the address;
    • correspond to the contents of the parcel, for example, if you are sending fragile items, then the box should be rigid;
    • be sealed when it comes to liquids;
    • have ventilation holes if you want to send some seedlings or seeds.

If you are sending something that has brand new factory packaging without signs of damage and you are quite satisfied with its quality, then you don’t have to buy an additional envelope or box at the post office.

Be sure to complete the CN23 customs declaration.

This can be done directly at the post office, because if you have any questions, you can always contact an employee for help. You can also download the form in advance using this link: https://www.pochta.ru/forms-list

Here you can download and print the form for the accompanying address CP71.

The customs declaration is completed in the official language of the country of destination. Provide accurate information to avoid problems.

After paying for the postage (it’s difficult to name the exact cost - it all depends on the size of the parcel and the country of destination), take the check:

2) Ukrposhta will help you send parcels abroad, etc.

Ukrposhta does not lag behind its neighbors and also provides services for sending packages and boxes abroad.

Actually, the rules for packaging and shipping are the same as those of Russian mail.

If you want, you can use additional services offered by Ukrposhta.

For example, “Notification” (you will be notified when the recipient receives the message) or “Delivery by courier” (the recipient will not have to go to the post office, but will be able to wait for the courier at home).

These and other services are provided for a fee.

If every second person sent letters and parcels across Russia, then with small packages and parcels abroad the situation is a little more complicated. And it doesn’t matter whether you are sending an item sold in your Etsy store, or decide to send a gift to your friends abroad. In this article I will talk about what you need to know before you send a package.

At first, I did not plan to write a separate article on the topic of sending parcels. After all, there are already enough similar articles on the Internet. But just the other day, a good friend of mine who opened a store on Etsy, by the way, quite recently, made her first sale. And in a panic she turned to me for help. And then I thought that if I write an article taking into account the information that a beginner needs, formatting it in stages, it will be convenient and clear. And it will calm the sender of the parcel a little.

Step 1: Find out if there are any restrictions on sending abroad

Check on the Russian Post website, on this page, to see if the item you plan to send abroad is on the list of prohibited goods. On the same page you can familiarize yourself with the choice and size of the package, as well as the dimensions of the items. Therefore, I will not duplicate this information here.

If everything is in order, move on to the next stage.

Step 2: Choose a sending method

You can send items and products by letter, small package and parcel. The choice of shipping method depends on the weight of the product, dimensions, and strength.

Letter

The letter is intended for personal correspondence, sending documents, papers, magazines, postcards and other printed materials. Maximum weight - 2 kg. The maximum size is A4. If you, for example, are a designer of postcards, brochures, pictures, then you can choose this method.

Parcel

This is a shipment that is larger in size or weight than a letter, but the same as a letter containing paper products and printed materials: books, magazines, posters.

The maximum weight of a parcel is 5 kg. The maximum sum of three dimensions (length+width+height) is 90 cm. Or the maximum length of a parcel is 60 cm.

Small package

This is a small package sent overseas containing unbreakable items.

Maximum weight 2 kg. As for the sizes, the maximum sum of three dimensions (length+width+height) is 90 cm. Or the maximum length of a small package is 60 cm.

If you are sending goods from Russia, then you can view the Post rates at this link (item International parcels, shipping by air). Without VAT - payment in stamps, with VAT - in cash.

New tariffs are effective from December 3, 2018. You can read about how much shipping cost before.

If you want to send something small and not very fragile abroad (for example, bracelets, earrings, keychains, bars of soap, a knitted sweater, etc.), then this method is the most optimal and inexpensive.

Package

This method can be used to send various items of non-standard weight and size. You can read more about this shipping method on the postal website.

Step 3: Package items to be shipped

Products must be packaged in such a way as to prevent damage during delivery. But you also need to take into account that customs officers may suspect something is wrong and open your parcel for inspection.

Envelopes and boxes can usually be purchased at the post office. But it’s best to do this in advance, because... on the day of sending there may not be a box or envelope of the required size and then you will have to resolve this issue in a hurry.

If you are sending items that may become deformed during transportation, such as shaped candles, vases, clay figurines, etc., you can wrap each item individually in bubble wrap. This film is sold in large construction stores.

It will also not be bad if you weigh your products in advance - this will be useful to you at the next stage.

Step 4: Filling out the customs declaration

Once you have resolved the packaging issue, you need to fill out a customs declaration. Or download it all from the same Russian Post website (at the very bottom of the page), or get e e at the post office.

Addition: you can fill out the CN 23 declaration online on this resource, and then download and print it. I myself use this resource very often.

Important: the declaration is filled out in triplicate in the language accepted in the country of destination (for example, English, French, etc.). Information must be reliable and well written to avoid various kinds misunderstandings.

Sample of filling out customs declaration No. CN 23

CN23 is most often not needed for small packages.

You can send a small package with a declared value, but then the cost of sending will be higher. And if something happens to your shipment, the post office will be required to refund part of the funds.

Stage 5: Pay for the shipment and receive a tracking number

After everything is packaged, executed and signed, you pay for this service and receive a check in which it will be written postal id- a numerical combination of letters and numbers.

Postal services, especially regarding items such as parcels and parcels, are especially in demand today. Therefore, how to send a parcel by mail abroad correctly and without problems is a pressing question for many.

Under the concept " international parcel"is understood postal item to countries located outside the country, which contains various items and objects of cultural and everyday use, and at the same time complies with all rules and regulations regarding dimensions, weight and permissibility of investments.

Requirements for international parcels

  • The parcel must weigh no more than 20 kg;
  • minimum size- 110 mm x 220 mm with a maximum size of up to 1.05 m (but at the same time the sum of the perimeter in itself large section and the length should not be more than two meters);
  • have investments that are permitted by law.

What cannot be sent in a parcel abroad

It is necessary to determine what can be sent in a parcel abroad based on the list of investments prohibited by the state. It is available at every post office and is always provided to the sender for study. As an example of what cannot be sent abroad, the following may be noted:

  • drugs and psychotropic substances;
  • weapons and ammunition;
  • gems(the only exception may be jewelry);
  • scrap of non-ferrous and precious metals;
  • pornographic videos;
  • devices and equipment that are intended for secret (hidden) data collection;
  • information and materials that may pose a threat to economic and political stability in the country;

and much more.

Where to send a parcel abroad - each sender decides for himself. The most common and familiar option to many is “Russian Post”.

If we are talking about how to quickly send a parcel abroad, then this can be done as follows: by regular mail, and express delivery - companies engaged in the international transportation of relevant goods, for example: DHL, FedEx, TNT, Nova Poshta and others. Depending on the distance of messages, delivery time can be from four to eight days. The choice of how best to send a parcel abroad specifically in your case may be primarily influenced by speed, but do not forget that the cost of shipping increases proportionally with it. Tariffs can be found on the websites of these express companies and on the official website of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise Russian Post.

When choosing where to send a parcel abroad, you should also take into account that the cost of shipping will increase depending on the shipping method: air transportation is several times higher in price than land delivery.

It should also be taken into account that the items included in the parcel must be packaged so that transportation does not lead to damage, and they can be inspected at customs without any problems (if necessary). According to the Rules established in the Russian Federation for postal services, the sender sends parcels abroad open and encloses completed customs declarations(form CN 23, no more than 3 pieces) and accompanying address (form CP 71). The documents should be filled out legibly and without errors, so that there are no subsequent problems with the delivery of the parcel to the recipient.
